i can't quit the birdsite. it's really mind numbing sometimes.

Hmmmm... this clearly didn’t stick in my social media rotation. I tried. 😏

Beta testing the Toot! App for iOS. It’s coming along quite nicely. mastodon.social/@tootapp

For those concerned that AI is about to take over the world: Google Maps just asked me whether Mesa Pizza in Dinkytown is a good place for a romantic lobster dinner.

Kiddos back in school, back to work after a week off. And it still feels quite summery outside. Blergh.

Winging our way to Orlando to play with the mouse and his friends. My kids are pretty excited. We’re taking them at the exact same age that my brother and I first went 32 years ago!

Cat pics

This is Louise (first pic) and Thelma. They’re <1 year old and joined our household in January. They’re awesome kitties.

Oh to the twitter leftists who came here, heres a protip. The way you have to act on twitter? Just dont.

Bird Site poop

It does seem like bird site migration is picking up steam. Or at least people are actually taking a look around here.

Despite all the nonsense over there, I haven't gotten the impulse to just nuke my account and never look back yet, but I think that's a function of the people that I interact with there - I have my own little bubble. But the actions of the company are hard to ignore. ARGH

Timeline Analogy

A timeline is your home. Like a home, you have the right to decide who is and is not allowed to come into your timeline. Follow who you want to follow just as you would allow those people access to your home. And if they're in your home, dirtying up your rug, you can kick them out.

The mastodon stages:

1: getting used to the interface

2: discovering that most people are just people, engaged in everyday adventures, big & small

3: the allure of the notification sound

4: a gradual getting used to the fact that not everything is about US politics, and that it's okay to filter it out on a macro level

5: a quiet moment when you think "there can still be poetry in this world"

6: some sort of reconciliation with the quantum magic that is the federated timeline

7: pineapples

local politics

Wendy Berry did very well in the West St Paul City council primary. I've known her for a long time and I'm really proud of what she's doing. It's very encouraging to me. electionresults.sos.state.mn.u

FWIW, I voted for Erin Murphy. Her values most aligned with mine. I have relatively few issues with Walz though, and I'm surprised at how many people used Lieutenant Gov as a decision point. (I think either would be perfectly capable). I unfortunately also voted for Keith Ellison, which given new information, would probably not have done. but I can't change my vote now.

Oh, I guess I forgot to call it birdsite or whatever.

I muted all the accounts on my local instance that mimic their tweets. Because I already see a lot of it on Twitter. ahhh, much better.

Pretty big primary today. Going to be an interesting night.
