and if you just get one or two follows, that also doesn’t mean we’re not pals, it just means i probably know you from just one or two of those contexts! :)

so if you get a follow from me but like 4x i’m sorry, but also that’s a way of saying “i think you’re really cool and feel like i want to see your posts in multiple of these contexts!”

relatedly, i’m finding myself explaining why i have 4 accounts (fmrly 3, fmrly 2) now:

one for general interest
one for local folks
one private alt for snark and stream-of-consciousness stuff
and one for a conference i’m going to that has their own instance

The NYT social media policy is like “don’t post anything you wouldn’t put in print” which is why I am only posting awoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

me, two months ago: “idk, mastodon was cool for awhile and i met some awesome folks but then i missed local twitter and they missed their local twitter so we all went back”
me, now: “holy h*ck everyone moved to mastodon so i guess we can all be here now??”

good to have you here, old friends and new!

biking down washington ave today, someone was saying kind things about people’s hats and helmets. it made me smile.

A community centered on the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, and their surrounding region.

An alternative to social networks that connected people in the region that have either died away or driven people off with unethical or anti-social policies.

MSP Social is a noncommercial community service, hosted and administered by @lawremipsum. Users should not feel obligated to contribute financially to the project. But contributions to defray server costs and/or for possible future expansion are welcome at Patreon, Liberapay or via PayPal to lawremipsum at gmail.

We financially support local community-oriented organizations. Currently, we support WedgeLive, Streets MN, Grease Rag and The MN Tool Library. Future support of community-oriented organizations will be determined by accountholders, donors and the admin, and is likely to be focused on groups that advance the values of the donors and encourage underrepresented voices in community and urban planning spheres.
