Friday before last, I went out with my law school buddies. My Color Blind Friend™️ got on the issue of toxic masculinity somehow--not sure how--and started to decry it as unfair. His logic was that it's a horrendous attack on men, since masculinity is an immutable characteristic. This proceeding into many circles about masculinity being a contract, ect.
I think his complaint boiled down to women not being taken down for a direct parallel, ex: "what about toxic FEMININITY?"

But even now I'm still like, "wtf are you even on about."
And it's difficult to have like, an honest conversation about an issue like this with him, since he slips very easily into Lawyer Voice, even in text message, and suddenly battle lines are drawn. It's really exhausting.

Also, when you slip into Lawyer Voice, other lawyers slip into lawyer voice, and suddenly everything needs to be a multi-paragraph response, and if you don't perfectly answer someone's argument, you're avoiding argument, blah blah blah.
