Why is it that if a city wants to remove free car storage there's a long legal process with public engagement, but if they want to reduce transit service they can just do it? Seems wrong.

The idea it's fine to keep high risk people indefinitely stranded at home is immoral & should be completely rejected. Vulnerable people have a right to participate in society too. For that to happen, we all need to mask in public spaces when COVID spread is high.

Two major #transportation items passed unanimously at common council in #MadisonWI last night.

1. A #transit network redesign that consolidates bus service on more frequent routes, improving access to opportunities across most of the city.

2. A #TDM program that requires developers and new business to reduce driving through some combination of #walking, #biking, and #transit incentives; #parking management; etc.

Hour long gaps today on a high frequency route. This is no way to run a transit agency.

If rail workers do end up engaging in a wildcat or otherwise illegal strike, PLEASE remember that strikes are meant to be disruptive. If you see someone talking about the rail strike and how it's having such a huge impact, say things like "Yeah, it's crazy how much of our economy relies on them. That's why they deserve good health care."

I had never before considered that speeding up bus routes (signal priority, stop spacing, bus lanes...) helps mitigate the operator shortage. Faster routes means each operator can drive more trips!

Many malls in first-ring suburbs are already transit hubs and have way too much parking. Let's transform them into mixed-use walkable neighborhoods, starting by building apartment buildings where the parking currently is.
