Alright. I have a template that creates a VPC and exports the necessary subnet IDs, and another template that imports that info to create a load balancer, Redis cache, ECS cluster, and other miscellany for this one app. While I *have* validated these templates for syntax, I haven't tested them at all. This stands to get real, real messy.
@ironiridis For your own sanity, temporarily comment-out the Redis server while you’re validating the rest of the stack - of the things you listed, that’s the one that can really extend the deploy/fail/fix/re-deploy loop. Additionally, if you have RDS, that’s another one to avoid at first and god help you if there’s a Cloudfront distribution involved. Convergence times for those can be ~15 minutes.
@iamdoon Hah, I definitely noticed Elasticache slowing things down. I was really surprised even an ALB takes 2-3 minutes to spin up; I was taken rather aback, given how it's a souped-up nginx instance at the end of the day.
