Hmm this might be the year that I use my "what am I thankful for" statement to get real fucking political, maybe get uninvited from Thanksgiving forever.

Passive aggressive thanks

Let's see...

I'm thankful for having access to hormones, health insurance, and transition resources that are necessary for my health and well being yet are unattainable to others, and the current administration has taken away from many more.

I'm thankful that I have never been denied the use of a public restroom because someone thinks I look like I don't belong there, despite the efforts of people like the Family Research Council and certain state legislators.

I'm thankful that I haven't yet been denied shelter or medical care because I'm trans, even though it is the policy of this administration to deny trans people those things.

I'm thankful that I live in one of 21 states that protect against discrimination on the basis of gender identity, even as the current administration asks the Supreme Court to deny that protection. I am thankful that haven't lost my job because I'm trans, and I don't have to be afraid that I might.

I am thankful I have a loving and accepting family and community that hasn't disowned me, been turned against me, or subjected me to harmful conversion therapy because religious leaders consider me ignorant and confused about my own gender.

I'm thankful that I can be a positive force in people's life's just by being myself and showing that it is possible.

I'm thankful that kids now get to grow up knowing and seeing actual trans people living happy, comfortable lives, something that I never had and that kept me from understanding myself for a very long time.

And I'm thankful for every trans person that discovered themselves before I finally did, each one carved a place in the world for themselves that made more room for me.

This thread is also a thankfulness canary. These will pretty much apply the rest of my life, and if one of the clauses disappears, I had one of them taken from me.
