Don't miss it, Portland! @email@example.com is awesome!
@firstname.lastname@example.org has a special passion for the city of Minneapolis and how the way we build cities shapes people’s lives and daily choices. She co-founded @MoreNeighbors@twitter.com the group that led grassroots support of Minneapolis's comprehensive plan.

Pick a building style, pick a time period, someone has complained about it in this same exact way. Some even fought to change laws to prevent buildings they didn't like from getting built, because of who would be living in them.
In 60 years, the climate of Minneapolis will be something similar to Kansas. If we reduce emissions we can have Iowa. So, why build all this parking on an overwhelming amount of transit routes?
Is it too late to propose some changes to #mpls2040?
First, Minneapolis advocates legalized citywide triplexes. Now Austin's @GregCasar@twitter.com's "Affordability Unlocked" proposal legalizes six-unit, three-story apartments citywide so long as 50% are affordable. Minneapolis and Seattle Have Achieved the Holy Grail for Sustainable Transportation via @email@example.com https://usa.streetsblog.org/2019/02/08/minneapolis-and-seattle-have-achieved-the-holy-grail-for-sustainable-transportation/
Thread: this is how easy it is to take neighborhood org funds from affordable housing when the deciders are largely those with no dire need to see it go to housing.
Big question right now is whether wedge live can walk to Kenwood fast enough to see the Lowry Hill neighborhood association spend $225k in housing money on fountain.
Phillipe Cunningham lies! His committee is not the best committee. If this was Zoning and Planning, someone would have brought a scale model of the Witch's Hat Tower and drilled a hole into it by now.
Bring warm clothes!
Maybe midrises aren’t your thing? How about undoing vestiges of an exclusionary history? 🤔 We are tri-ing something new in February. Maybe a field trip to Minneapolis or Seattle is in store...👀👀
I'm here at City Hall where the Federal Reserve is presenting their 800 car parking ramp to the Planning Commission.
There will be lawn games.
Green space ccessible to the public 24/7/365.
Based on our own tracking of planning commission approvals, at least 5,563 homes were approved to be built during 2018. We need 20k over the next 5 years to reach a healthy vacancy rate. https://streets.mn/2018/04/05/how-many-homes-does-minneapolis-need/
The weather models are looking scary for temperatures next week. Please chip in if you can:

St. Paul zoning laws may be restrictive, but they can't prevent you from showing up to the Merriam Park Library:
Neighbors for More Neighbors Saint Paul Kickoff
6 p.m. tonight
Merriam Park Library
1831 Marshall Ave, St Paul, MN 55104
Saint Paul has been half-empty for too long!
This project falls under the new Inclusionary Zoning law, which will require that 20% of units be affordable. This means you can also plan on a 60% increase in complaints about "height", "neighborhood character" and, "protecting the shoreland overlay"
In Uptown, developer plans 10-story tower http://bit.ly/2UavvIa
60% of residents of Lowry Hill rent, yet renters very rarely see NRP funds directed to them. Anything on this list would be a better use of money than rebuilding a fountain. https://www.mncompass.org/profiles/neighborhoods/minneapolis/lowry-hill
What could this fund?
-eviction court representation
-preserve some of the NOAH being lost in Lowry HIll
-renter emergency fund
-subsidized affordable housing or IX coop investments
-staff to engage renters
-rent stabilization for senior renters
-loans to build ADUs https://twitter.com/WedgeLIVE/status/1087102775882768384
