@vkc I agree fully. There's no way it's going away! Sell it as a fact of life for the unix-likes. Clarify it might range from optional to absolutely necessary depending on user needs, so learning the basics is a good idea. Even w/ GUI apps you'll probably still need it for hunting down unreported errors. For the uninitiated who might be scared of getting hands dirty, sell it as having great benefits with the minor hassle of grasping simple concepts.
